What!? [ There is a distinct clatter, something falling off a desk on Prowl's end. ]
...If you were one of mine, you'd get a reprimand for wasting my time. [ His voice is firm, but more scolding. Someone's far too used to having to deal with Skywarp's shenanigans. ] Not only is this a gross breach of conduct - for him I imagine, even if not currently for me - I barely know the mech.
God, the sincerity of that threat. You're perfect for him. [riptide doesn't seem bothered, unfortunately.] No, no, you don't understand. I know him very, very well. He won't be mad about this.
...Besides, how are you going to get to know him if you don't go and hang out with him? Also, no.
If you don't want a date then I recommend you still hang out.
[he huffs lightly.]
No. I don't know. I guess he's, like, really sad because Megatron disappeared and I don't want him to be sad and alone because he deserves better than that. Or whatever.
[a little antsy with everything going on, megatron decides to be a passably decent leader and check in on his r2 victory recruit new recruit, seeing as it's been a short time since they last interacted.]
[ There's the sound of datapads being shuffled, and Prowl clears his vocalizer before doing exactly as requested: ] As far as I can tell, I and Minimus have nearly finalized the ship's code - I can send a copy of that to you for review, if you would like - and I'm just waiting on him to sign off on it.
I've also gotten my office set up and organized; I'll send you the room number, and please know you can usually find me here if you need me. Other than that, it's been fairly quiet on my end. A couple of personal projects, but nothing more.
[ One of those is a debate on whether he should reach out to Longarm - Shockwave - for a talk. But not anything to concern his temporary commanding officer with. ]
[megatron thinks of how this would usually go. of course i want to see it, you fool! make sure you override any of that damnable interfering autobot shoe-goodery! a decepticon signature is worth far more than the clear over-infestation of autobots in security. it took you long enough to get a base, what on cybertron were you doing with yourself other than being useless? don't bother with any personal projects, just do what i command!
he cringes. encountering the other one in that cathedral and hearing his horrible voice was an important reminder for him as to how close he came to being that monster.
prowl is a perfect decepticon, simply because he is. so are soundwave and slipstream. rebuild. end the cycle. be better than this.]
Very good work. How do you find Minimus to work with? I've only fought alongside him... though I've heard he's just as ferocious with paperwork. If you require any extensions or work done within your office, send me the request. I'll see it done.
I quite enjoy working with him. We've got similar understandings of how important a consistent set of laws is, and my experiences as a Decepticon have helped on some specific instances where there was some over-definition. We've been exchanging notes on a number of things. [ He's very pleased to talk about him! Minimus is probably one of his favourite people right about now, something he doesn't think lightly. ] So perhaps 'ferocious' is a good word. We both like our paperwork.
He was gracious enough to take me to the Ball as a friend, too. It was a nice break from the work.
Yessir. For now it'll be enough, I think, but thank you for thinking of me.
It sounds like you two strike almost the perfect balance. I expect he finds he's learning a lot from you.
[minimus isn't quite megatron's favourite person, but he's up there. the whole brig thing made him want to fight magnus, though, but that's par for the course for him. megatron, at any time, is guaranteed to want to fight someone. he has changed, but not that much.]
I don't remember much of the Ball... [he mutters, a little bashful. but not that much.] Ah-- I have some information I've finally typed up that I'll forward to you. About that mission I went on with Quintessa and Orion.
[he has forgotten tech was there. sorry, tech.]
It has some very pertinent historical and current data for Cybertronians of this reality. You may find it interesting.
I think we're learning a lot from each other. [ Paperwork nerds stick together! ]
Yessir. I've been doing a great deal of research on this universe; anything you can give me will help me establish more background. [ He has some thoughts, but... Fairly sparse still, this early. Still in the consolidation phase. ] I'll give it a skim, then read it more thoroughly later- Unless you want to discuss it in depth with me, sir?
As have I. Organic politics are very boring. [good thing his beautiful children probably won't be involved with it, at least for another decade or so. though... to cybertronians, that's like a week, so.] Do skim it, and then we can talk. I have a few things I need to-- ruminate on.
[the datapacket megatron sends contains the following information that he uncovered in nexus prime's library:]
As the original Primes left Cybertron to go explore the galaxy, many of their successors started vying for power. They used public opinion of the Primes who were slowly turning to legends to their advantage. Prima, the leader of the Primes, considered wise and strong, had founded the city of Iacon. So shouldn’t all born in his city be considered the best among Cybertronian kind? Sentinel made his bid for power based on that idea, and the other Primes followed suit, establishing a hierarchy based on where mechs were sparked. Those blessed to be born in Prima’s city could be scholars, scientists, political leaders, or any other glamorous occupation. But if you were unlucky enough to be born in Kaon, all that waited for you was a life of labor.
A laborer born in Kaon, who would eventually name himself Megatron, thought this was unjust. Nyon’s Prime, Optimus, tried to find a peaceful solution, but civil war soon broke out.
After thousands of years, Megatron and his Decepticons sought to show definitively that the Primes had no power over them. A fragment of Unicron that the Primes had kept as proof of their victory over evil was thrown into the Well of the Allspark, poisoning Cybertron itself. Optimus managed to save the fragment of Primus’ spark that powered the planet, hiding it in a location that only he knew. But Cybertron went dark soon after. The war raged on though, and spread across the galaxy.
No peace was ever reached between Autobots and Decepticons, but after Earth was left uninhabitable and the R2 was stolen by the Decepticons, the Galactic Council blacklisted all Cybertronians, and said that the race needed to be exterminated. The war was considered ‘over’ when both Optimus and Megatron were captured and publicly executed in front of the Council.

Should I be telling Minimus about this?
